12.18.09 - Pogue Mahone- Kamloops, BC |
From recording his first track in 2005, to the present moment, Morges continues to conjure up both intellectual & inspirational movements from both rock, metal & hip-hop fans alike. From rocking live stages to engineering multitrack sessions, Morges keeps his passion for music live & committed to make his dreams a reality. Collaborations with Vancouver's hip-hop superkid Chadio and Tonight We Burn The Sky Red's vocalist Wes Furlong have expanded the local hip-hop boundaries further than ever expected. His achievements include three solo albums since his debut in 2006, mixing three local underground hip-hop mixtapes & mixing/producing music for Oddseed & Jeffhole on their debut album, Salt & Vinegar. In late 2005 the Looking Glass studio was built in Kelowna, British Columbia where Morges recorded his debut album, Toe Tag. The album is an underground classic to fans of the acid rap genre as Morges tells a distasterous tale of zombies rising eating and steely coffins. Since its release in June 2006, Toe Tag has sold thousands of units across from British Columbia to Washington & Oregon. It wasn’t long before Morges was getting booked for shows and sharing his talent with fans from Langley to Seattle. After releasing Toe Tag, Morges felt it necessary to release a mixtape featuring local hip-hop artists. This mixtape led to an increased awareness of the Kelowna music scene and the artists that keep it moving. The TNMT Mixtape Vol. 1 features three exclusive solo tracks by Morges; We Tha Foot, Let It Flow & Big Brother. TNMT was mixed & produced by Morges in the Looking Glass Studio with the help from Rob Welch and DJ Bunikula on the cuts. Since its street release in late 2006, the TNMT Mixtape Vol. 1 has sold nearly a thousand units in the same key markets. With the success of his previous solo release, Morges felt it was time to start production on his second solo album, Seven Chakras. Based on ancient chakra theories, this album contains emotional outlooks on very specific life situations & feelings. On the song Mortal Ties, Morges reflects the pleasure & pain that spawns from the Mortal Ties we share with certain acquaintances. Mastered by the Stuntman in Vancouver BC, Seven Chakras raises the bar for production quality in the Okanagan. From the original beats & lyrics to the artwork by Phil Castle, Seven Chakras permenately set a landmark in the history of hip-hop in the Okanagan. Over the course of 2008, Morges began to gather together the finest emcees in Kelowna to commence production on the infamous 876 Project. The album is the first OGFC release to be built from the ground up using strictly local talent. Most notably, Kelowna hip-hop veteren Spit 36 jumped on board the 876 Project to lend his experience with concepts and general direction in which the album was recorded. From beats, to lyrics, to mixing, the album was entirely produced in Kelowna. Due to lack of local facilities, the album was sent to Vancouver to be mastered by Imaginations Treetrunk producer Aalo Guha. The album is set to drop in mid 2009. Now it is time for the release of Morges's forth solo album, Life Advice. The album consists of two seperate parts; Book 1: Life, with songs demonstrating the pleasures and experiences we all incur throughout our lives. Followed by Book 2: Advice, where Morges ventures into the darker side of life and the destructive nature of todays youth. Featuring earth shaking beats from the likes of Illicit, Dynamic and Mass Appeal, this album packs a wide variety of sounds from the "gorjis" one. DJ Bunikula from Portland hip-hop group Intellectually Sound also contributes his two cents into the mix on the ones and twos. Featuring vocal appearances by Imagination Treetrunks super duper star Chadio and Tonight We Burn The Sky Red's lead vocalist Wes Furlong, the album is one of the most anticipated albums to hit Kelowna streets. |
